Becoming Obedient to His Commandments
God requires us to follow what He has commanded. As we struggle to do this we frequently miss the mark. This the meaning of sin. As we know from the parable of the Prodigal Son, God is all merciful if we are willing to confesses and change our way of thinking and acting. He is not waiting to punish us, but desires to help us grow closer to Him through repentance.
Use the flowing list to evaluate your life in relation all He has taught us. Then try to identify the overriding passion that seems to be the main cause of your sinfulness. Focus on this passion as you try to change.
Once you have a good list that you want to confess, have courage to go to the priest for the sacrament of Holy Confusion.

Prepare for Confession
Make list with two columns: first, Commandments - second, where you missed the mark
Seek the underlying sinful tendency and determine how with God’s help you can make changes in your thinking and action. Identify one to focus on.
Make appointment for confession now - don’t wait until the end of Lent and don’t expect your spiritual father to be available during Holy Week.
